GIP- Summer
00:00 / 1:05:46

Today we meet Summer. She has some understanding of her own system and the inner world of her Parts. This is the first time she has explored her Parts with someone else.

WHO SHOWED UP…

  • A Part who engages in food restriction through a ‘health’ lens.

  • A Eating Protector Part who drives binge eating, once it starts, it can’t stop.

  • A Part who feels shameful for binge eating.

  • A Part who does the shaming.

  • A Part who attempts to protect from the shaming “Screw it, we can have whatever we want!”.

  • A Working It Out Part who wants to understand and make sense of the Eating Part.

  • A Problem Solving Part.

  • A Narrator Part.

  • A Frustrated Part who doesn’t get enough space.

WHAT I NOTICED…

I had a Part who was way more curious in the beginning about the Part restricting food, so I gently asked inside if this Part would step back, so I could be with Summer’s curiosity around her Eating Part.

We explored current patterns around binge eating which appeared helpful to Summer however, my system was interested in the origins of these patterns. Again, I had to ask my Parts to soften back so I could be with Summer in her process.

A Judgmental Part came in too around the level of Self Energy available. I asked this Part several times during the session to give me space so I could be more present with Summer.

WHAT I’D DO DIFFERENTLY…

The Working It Out Part was really present during the session. I would liked to have acknowledged this Part and explored its intentions and fears. I would have invited it to step back, if possible, to create a little more space for Self and Self Energy.

There were Parts supporting Parts in the last 1/3 of the session as they came up with ideas around next steps. There was some wisdom in the suggestions and I sensed that Summer reaching out to her partner for support was particularly Self Led. However, I would have liked more clarity on how Self Led the other suggestions were.

HEY THERE!

In case we haven't met yet, I'm Celia, a therapist and course creator who helps smart, sensitive women all over the world do the deeper work so they can finally be at peace with food, their body and themselves.

I am super creative and love learning new ways to share what I know, so that women no longer have to carry the toxic stories they have been told about their bodies and about their place in this world. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than witnessing a woman heal and step into her light.

I also share my passion for the Parts Work approach with other therapists, so they too, can integrate this compassionate, holistic and deeply transformative approach into their practice.
