1. GIP - Manya
00:00 / 55:58

Today we meet Manya. She knows her system and is used to working with and supporting her Parts.

WHO SHOWED UP…

Two polarised Protectors

  • The Little Guy who wanted to eat and who had learned that food brought comfort, love and warmth to Manya when she was young.

  • A group of Tall Dark Parts who had kept Manya safe when she was 18. They were focused on health and were fearful of the Little Guy causing harm.

Other key protectors

  • The Elephant Protector who was concerned about Manya getting overwhelmed.

  • The two Golfer Protectors who were concerned about a possible impact on Mum and Dad.

WHAT I NOTICED…

My own system had fears around going to an Exile in session as did her Protectors. Her Parts could have been picking up on my fears or my Parts picking up on hers (or both). As a result, we stayed with her Protectors and worked with the polarisation between the Little Guy and the larger group of Tall Dark Parts.

Manya offered lots of reassurance and gratitude towards her Parts which they found supportive. Had she been less experienced with her system, I would have had to be much more active in fostering reassurance and gratitude between her Self and her Parts.

WHAT I'D DO DIFFERENTLY…

Although self energy was offered to the Little Guy and there was a connection, I didn’t make sure he knew who Manya was. This potentially impacted the discomfort the Little Guy continued to have at the beach. On reflection I would have invited Manya to spend more time with him earlier in the session so he fully understood who she was.

Manya sent me an email after our session:

"I’ve been checking in with the Parts we met during our session. The Little Guy wound up back in jail because the managers got scared when he was day-dreaming about food. I reassured both of them and now they are back playing on the beach. Thank you Celia for helping me meet these important members of my internal system!”

HEY THERE!

In case we haven't met yet, I'm Celia, a therapist and course creator who helps smart, sensitive women all over the world do the deeper work so they can finally be at peace with food, their body and themselves.

I am super creative and love learning new ways to share what I know, so that women no longer have to carry the toxic stories they have been told about their bodies and about their place in this world. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than witnessing a woman heal and step into her light.

I also share my passion for the Parts Work approach with other therapists, so they too, can integrate this compassionate, holistic and deeply transformative approach into their practice.
